The Oldies

Here are some works I made a few years back that really got me interested in art for the first time. It's mostly photography centered with a small amount of graphic design and editing.

Untitled I (Award Winning Spray Paint Collage)

A spray paint collage I created in Tim Dooley's 3-D concepts course. This piece won the Department Head's Award in the UNI Foundations Exhibit in the Spring of 2010. This is by far my best piece and I'm very proud of the way it turned out. Spray Paint on paper.

A Christmas ornament I designed during metal casting in Chad Wolf's crafts class. Picture taken with my Canon Rebel T2I.

Street Courage (Drawing Installation)

A drawing installation I created for Aaron Wilson's Drawing II class. It's street themed courage. Mixed media.

Mixed Media Collage I

I don't know why I made this drawing, but I like it! Mixed media on paper.

I made this drawing through my obsession with German Writing in print. Translate it if you wish! India Ink on Paper.

Magazine Cover Recreation

This piece was also a project for my two-dimensional concepts class and the object was to recreate a tabloid cover. I searched countless magazines and cut out different words and photos and spent hours placing things together in pursuit of an aesthetically pleasing piece. I'm very happy with the way it turned out and my professor commented on the fact that the headlines were like poetry, which I was happy about.

Coloring Book Line Continuation

I created these two pieces for my two-dimensional concepts class. The object was to cut out sections of coloring books and, by using line continuation, create a composition. It's hard to explain exactly how I created these, though I can say I simply started a point and grew from it, which eventually lead to what you are seeing now. Hours upon hours were spent on these pieces and I'm happy with the results.

Introduction

Hello, thank you for voluntarily (or stumbling upon) my art blog. This blog will be used to display art that I'm working on in school and in my leisure as I advance into the Fine Arts Program at the University of Northern Iowa. It is meant to be something to show my friends and family how I am progressing in my work and also a great way for me to look back and see how far I've come and what steps I've taken to get to future points. Unfortunately, I've had problems with my computer and because of this, I cannot begin my blog at the current moment. Please check back periodically to see my work and please let me know what you think either positive or negative in the comment section under each blog.

Thanks!
